Multiplication tables can be very tricky. They definitely are for Daphne. She studies and studies but still does poorly in math. Then one day she meets the wise old owl. Mr. Owl understands why she doesn’t like math because he didn’t do well in school either. His mother helped him learn some multiplication tricks to make them easier. Daphne quickly gains a new friend in the wise old owl as he teaches her tricks to remember her times tables, which helps her succeed in math.

A very funny green book that raises pressing current issues about waste and recycling. When Frank's classmates notice that his name in the register reads Frank N. Stein they insist that he build a monster. The boys make a creature out of rubbish but then a flash of lightning brings the monster alive. However, when they discover that all the monster wants to do is eat rubbish, they quickly realise how useful the monster will be. But try telling that to parents and police, the army and the adult world in general! A very funny green book, that raises pressing current issues of about waste and recycling.

One of the things I've often thought about over the years is what keeps us in North Dakota? If you ask that question of a hundred different people you may get a hundred different answers. Although the answers vary, most have a common theme. Somewhere in their answer the word "freedom" appears. Another word that appears almost as often is "outdoors". Our freedoms and our closeness to nature fit together like a hand and glove, blending together almost seamlessly in our lives on the Northern Plains. This book is a bit of a light hearted look at our life on the plains that is guaranteed to bring back a lot of memories. What started out as a book of memories in a lot of ways became much more. It became a permanent part of my life long journey. I'm not sure it will ever be finished, at least in my mind, but here's what I've got so far! If this is interesting to you, maybe you'll capture some of what it feels like to be as free as we are and what life is like out here on the prairies of North Dakota.

Before long, and without intending it, I found that jewelry had become part of my personal diplomatic arsenal. Former president George H. W. Bush had been known for saying "Read my lips." I began urging colleagues and reporters to "Read my pins." It would never have happened if not for Saddam Hussein. When U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Madeleine Albright criticized the dictator, his poet in residence responded by calling her "an unparalleled serpent."
